I have turned entire cities into footnotes.
I didn’t forget them, I remembered them incorrectly, that’s why.
Memory has terrible punctuation. It keeps putting commas where people left, and full stops where they came back.
I’ve spent years editing places that never asked to be rewritten.
The original still exists. I’m just no longer its author.
